Black Women’s Health Imperative partnered with the Mayor’s Office of the City of Atlanta, Spelman College and the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Development Disabilities to present the Mayor’s Emotional Wellness Summit for Women.
The event was hosted at Spelman College, and attended by over 150 women who were enriched by panel discussions and breakout sessions that covered topics like managing Superwoman Syndrome, healing from trauma and stress management. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms also attended to give remarks that reinforced her commitment to identifying opportunities to make resources and programming available to women year-round. The keynote address was delivered by Shanti Das who gave a candid and emotionally-charged account of her own emotional wellness journey to provide insight and encouragement to attendees.
BWHI also premiered the first of several installments of its #BlackAndWell video series, which will capture wellness in the Black community from a variety of diverse and authentic angles that will celebrate, educate and empower.
