The ACA Still Matters

We have a new president now: President Donald J. Trump. His administration and the majority party in both houses of Congress are promising to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t sign up for health care. In fact, it makes it more urgent for you to enroll, and enroll today!

The ACA gives you access to a range of free benefits and preventive services, including birth control, HIV and STI screenings, breast cancer screenings, diabetes screenings and domestic violence counseling. It offers affordable, quality health care that does not discriminate based on age or pre-existing conditions.

You may be thinking, “that’s great, but the president and lawmakers are about to take it away, so why bother to sign up?” Well, while we at the Black Women’s Health Imperative and other organizations will fight to try to make sure the ACA stays, if it is repealed, the process will take a while and there will be a transition period to make sure there isn’t a disruption in anyone’s service. So, you still have time to take advantage of all the free benefits and great services the ACA has to offer.

There are only a few more days to sign up. The deadline is January 31, so enroll now!

And join us to tell Congress to keep the ACA. It only takes a few minutes and can make a huge difference for you and the people you love.
