For over 40 years, the Black Women’s Health Imperative (BWHI) has been one of the leading national organizations dedicated solely to improving the health and wellness of Black women physically, emotionally, and financially. We advance and promote Black women’s health through. three focus areas: Wellness Programs, Policy and Advocacy, and Research Translation. We target the most pressing health issues that affect Black women and girls in the U.S. through investments in evidence-based strategies, programs, and advocacy outreach on health policies.
Description of Position
BWHI is seeking a dynamic and creative Manager, Social Media to join our team. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive social media strategy to increase our visibility, engagement, and influence across various platforms. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for women’s health and advocacy, possessing a knack for storytelling and community-building.
The Day-to-Day
Strategy Development: Craft and implement a vibrant social media strategy that supports the organization’s mission, goals, and amplifies our advocacy efforts Content Creation and Curation: Generate and curate engaging, informative content tailored for platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube; ensure content aligns with our mission and speaks effectively to our audience Community Engagement: Foster a vibrant online community through timely interactions, responding to comments, and engaging in dialogues that promote a positive and supportive environment
Analytics and Reporting: Leverage analytics tools to monitor social media performance, providing regular reports to the team and recommending strategy pivots to enhance engagement and reach
Campaign Management: Lead and execute impactful social media campaigns that highlight key initiatives, events, and milestones, coordinating with the broader marketing and communications strategies
Vendor and Influencer Management: Manage relationships with external partners and influencers, ensuring collaboration is in harmony with BWHI’s values and objectives; develop and execute influencer strategies to broaden our reach
Trend Monitoring: Keep abreast of the latest social media trends, platforms, and tools, incorporating innovative approaches to keep BWHI’s social media presence relevant and engaging.
Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure unified and coherent messaging across all channels, supporting the overall communication strategy of BWHI
Required Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in social media management, content creation, and community engagement.
- Strong understanding of the social media landscape, analytics tools, and content management systems.
- Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills, with the ability to produce creative content.
- Deep commitment to BWHI’s mission and a strong interest in women’s health advocacy. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- This position is remote with approximately 10% travel.
A reasonable estimate of the base compensation range for this role is $70,000– $80,000 annually depending on experience. The actual salary for the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, geographic location, training, licensure and certification, and other factors.
