Description of Position

BWHI is hiring a Grants Manager (GM) to serve as the lead grant writer for the organization. The GM will be responsible for helping to secure over $1.9 million in revenue by writing approximately 25 grant proposals and reports, annually. The overall Development fundraising goal is $9 million.
The GM will report to the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations (Director CFR) and work closely with the Policy team, Programs, Marketing and Communications teams on all grant writing needs.
Responsibilities
- Research and Identify new grant opportunities for BWHI, including multi-year grants
- Prepare narrative grant proposals for submission
- Prepare narrative reporting for grant awards, according to grant maker requirements
- Secure necessary project/program details from the Programs and Policy teams to create proposals and reports
- Oversee grant reporting, ensuring that reports are created and submitted in a timely manner
- Manage multiple writing projects simultaneously
Required Experience & Education
- A Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in grant writing.
- Able to manage a high volume of work with efficiency.
- Experience maintaining a grants tracking platform to ensure all relevant parties are notified and included on progress and information required to complete grants and grant reports for submission.
- Experience managing multiple and competing deadlines and demands.
- Able to prioritize without sacrificing quality. Plans backwards to make deadlines.
- Clear written communication on behalf of the organization and produces compelling proposals to inspire others to see the value in investing in and partnering with BWHI. A clear, precise, compassionate communicator.
- Understands and applies best practices in grant proposal and report writing.
- Can learn, internalize, and incorporate our “voice” across proposals, aligning with communications strategy and the institutional narrative.
- Asks for help when needed.
Preferred Experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience submitting and securing grant proposals from more than one type of funder: corporate foundations, family foundations, government entities, etc.
- Experience using the Salesforce platform.
The estimated base compensation range for this role is $65,000 – $75,000. Actual base pay for a successful candidate will consider skills, experience and location.
